Is it anxiety?
One of my specializations as a Clinician is helping clients dealing with anxiety. Anxiety is characterized by persistent, excessive worrying about everyday events and activities which the person finds difficult to control. Anxiety can look very different from person to person, and it is not something that we can rid our lives of completely.
A healthy dose of anxiety/ stress allows us to deal with threatening situations. Remember, we are hard-wired to identify threats and our bodies naturally react with a fight/flight/freeze response. It’s when the anxiety is in overdrive that it can create dysfunction in our lives and hinder happiness and progress toward a fulfilled life. Below I have listed some common symptoms. In a next weeks blog, I will share some tips what to do and how to manage anxiety.
Excessive worrying that lasts for months, plus some or all of the following:
Feeling restless, keyed up, or on edge.
Being easily tired.
Having difficulty concentrating, or having your mind go blank.
Being irritable.
Having tense or sore muscles.
Having difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or having restless, unsatisfying sleep.
Over-planning
Excessive list making
Seeking reassurance from others
One of the reasons I specialize in working with clients on anxiety is that I know a little something about personally. It is a very common mental health condition. There are ways to keep it from taking over your life. My goal is to help my clients go from suffering to thriving by learning how to channel and control their hidden superpower.
I hope my blogs are a helpful source of information. That they might help you to find comfort and solace in knowing that you’re not alone. That you matter and someone’s thinking about you.
