5 Ways to Find Inner Peace

Inner peace is a process not a position. The wonderful thing about it is that we get glimpses of it sprinkled in our lives at different times. The challenge is learning how to evoke that feeling of stillness and bliss on our own. If you or someone you know is struggling to find peace check out the services I offer here. Below I've listed a few ways to practice bringing bliss in your life on a daily basis.

1. Gratitude

When we take the time to appreciate the aspects of our lives that are going right, hopefully we realize there is more to celebrate than we thought. Take some time to think about your accomplishments big and small. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself credit for your personal growth and development. Side note, I will literally have my clients pat themselves on the back :)

2. Walk

If you know me, you know I'm a huge advocate for physical activity. Walking outside is one of the best ways to get out of our heads and into our bodies. Fresh air and the taking time to appreciate nature can reduce stress and promote happiness. If you have a pet you have a great excuse to get outside. I used to take Fatima for walks 3 times a day because I lived in an apartment... Think it's time for me to implement that back into my schedule.

3. Acceptance

There are circumstances in life that we do our best to overcome and change. When we are unable to do either of those, acceptance is the way to go. Click here to see my favorite video to share with clients about anxiety. Resistance creates continued pain. Acceptance doesn't mean giving up or losing it, means strength despite adversity.

4. Ownership

Move from being a victim to being a victor. Sometimes bad things happen to us. It's unfortunate and sad but we don't have to let those things hold our lives hostage. Dr. Eric Thomas (The Hip Hop Preacher) discusses using life's pain to get something out of it. You're in pain anyway so you might as well channel it intentionally for your own desired outcome.

5. Be yourself

Think about the times you feel the most joy. This usually occurs when you're with your closest friends and family being yourself. We all worry about being judged for who we are but the funny thing is we all fear the same thing and sometimes let it hold us back from being our true self.
